Wireless Digital Cellular Platforms

GSM

GSM is a wireless technology that allows delivery of high quality digital voice services, and ‘always-on’ high-capacity data services. GSM is made up of a family of platforms. These platforms include General Packet Radio Service (GPRS), Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) and third generation GSM services (3GSM). GPRS

GPRS is enables services such as colour Internet browsing, e-mail, visual communications, multimedia messages and location-based services. GPRS enabled networks allow for 'always on', higher capacity internet and packet-based services.


EDGE

EDGE is a technology that will enable the delivery of advanced cell phone services. These include the downloading of video and music clips, full multimedia messaging, high-speed internet access, and email.
