What We Think

A lightweight little phone, the 3.4-ounce S105 from Samsung has a brilliant 128-by-160-pixel color screen with an easy-to-use interface. The color screen is excellent for playing downloadable Java-enabled games, sending and receiving images in wireless messaging via SMS or EMS, as well as surfing or downloading from the always-on Internet connection. Able to operate globally on Tri-Band networks, the S105 offers many useful phone features. These include an external LCD so users can check caller ID without opening the phone and capacity for 500 entries in its internal phone book. It also includes nine one-touch dialing numbers. In addition, the phone has automatic redial; any-key answer function; voice mail; call logs for 20 incoming, 20 outgoing, and 20 missed calls; vibrating alert; 20 polyphonic ring tones; call waiting and forwarding; conference calling; and call restriction capabilities. A personal organizer with a calendar, to-do list, alarm, currency converter, calculator, and world time helps users keep track of important meetings and deadlines. The Samsung S105 comes with three games and users can download more games, images, and ring tones to customize their phone. Talk time on this phone is rated at up to 4 hours, and standby time is up to 100 hours.
